I’ve gone back to using YouTube as my Sensei. After watching this one tutorial, I managed to get a few (but not fully there) poi Meldowns. As usual there’s still some plane issues, not to mention the disadvantage of having short arms and a rather large chest. I suppose that’s why I only see males with slimmer body types pull it off. Hooping doesn’t really discriminate my body type as much, and that’s probably one of the reasons I’ve been doing that more lately. That doesn’t mean I want to give up on poi (it was my first love after all). But feeling limited on abilities can be discouraging. Thankfully I’ve been losing some weight, but it’s not like I can lengthen my arms. Google hasn’t been much help with finding advice for busty spinners, so I guess my only option is to tape em’ down drag king style. That or just accept the tricks I cannot do, figure out what I can do and roll with it. On another note I’ve gotten better with stalls and isolatiting hoops, and I’m about to attempt the cat eye, and some other isolation tricks. Wish me luck.
